| Science For Sixth Primary - Term Two - Lesson Three The importance of the fuse 1- Protecting electric equipments from damge. 2- Protecting homes from fires.

How does a fuse work? 1- When the uncovered parts of the connecting wire touch each other and the electric current passes in the fuse wire increase. 2- The wire of fuse heats and melts leading to a breaking in the circuit and preventing the electric current from passing.
Safety rules when using electricity at home: Firstly: For personal safety: 1- Do not touch any electric switches or equipment with wet hands. 2- Do not touch any uncovered parts of electric wires. 3- Do not put you hands inside a radio or a television while it is switched on and plugged in. 4- Do not put any metallic body in the electric current source.
Seondly: Equipment and home safety: 1- Unplug all electric equipments when they are not in use. 2- Be sure that the switch of any equipment is "off" before plugging or unplugging to avoid electric sparks. 3- Avoid operating several electrical equipments at the same time to avoid the risk of overload. 4- Use new electric connections instead of damaged ones. 5- When a fuse wire burns, replace it with another fuse for the same current. 6- Before replacing a damaged fuse, check why the first fuse was damaged so that the problem is solved such that it will not be repeated. | |
